Yesterday I saw a newspaper headline that read "100 Days Later", and, well, I just had to:

Excellent. Also works with 666 days later (most of the damage should be signed into law by then).

PS: If any forum allows necro posts, Drabblecast would be it, right?

Wow, somebody found this? I'd forgotten I'd posted it.

Bush/Cheney didn't do any damage with the laws their admiinistration signed?

Not the point.

Besides, they didn't set out to completely and thoroughly destroy what's left of the free world. They merely gave it a sucking chest wound.

The strategy is simple and brilliant. And it is working. You can save a ton of money on healthcare and social security, if you first make people wish they were dead.

Seems a shame to have such a delicious idea close, but not quite, to twabble form.
So:
The heinous strategy is working. To save a ton of money on health care & social security, make people wish they were dead.

BTW, this strategy really does work in America. My father basically gave up and wasted away -- rather than continue to fight his cancer (which didn't kill him). No small part of that was government health care -- he was treated at a VA hospital.

I've been in 6 military or VA hospitals, between myself, friends, and relatives. They've all been a mix of depressing and infuriating -- despite the fact that a lot of good people work there.

My nephew served two tours in Iraq in the reserves, and is disabled because of PTSD. But since he was in reserves, he served in units other than his home unit, and the government has no record of his home unit being in Iraq, so the VA won't treat him.
How I look forward to that system being imposed on the rest of us, with the IRS collecting the insurance premiums.

The right is very fond of tossing out the "S" word, which decodes to "a bunch of damn commies"
Of course the alternative (that the those on the left are too wimpy to come out and say is that the prior administration was a nearly perfect definition of the "F" word.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism
I don't mean Fascism in the "I'm an idiot radical that doesn't even know what the word means, but we all know it's bad." I mean it in it's original sense. Bush/Cheney (and the Republican party in general) are a near perfect example to explain just what Fascism is. And the R's have done a masterful job of controlling this argument. Shucks, I've even heard the right try and toss both the "S" word and the "F" word at the left simultaneously. They do a much better job of controlling the discussion.

But, in the end, the Republicans and the Democrats are two horns on the same devil, in my opinion.

I wonder about Strawman's comment regarding looking forward to the VA system being imposed on everyone. Maybe that would be the best thing in the world. If everyone had to put up with the crappy treatment our sons and daughters who go out in defense of our nation receive, maybe as a nation we'd wake up and fix the problem and stop treating so shabbily those brave kids of ours who have suffered so much after honorably serving their nation. Maybe we'd stop treating each other so shabbily too.

The right-wing is very big on lip-service about respect for the military, yet under Bush/Cheney our wounded were being treated in rat-infested decaying hospitals.

Remember, in the USA, when you talk about "The Government" don't forget to look in the mirror and remember that each and everyone of us is part of "We the People"

If our government is a failure, it's because we, as a people, are failing.

It is quite possible to be a fascist and a socialist at the same time. (Example: The National Socialist German Workers' Party.) Although taxonomically distinct, social and fascism readily cooperate and are almost always found together in the wild.

I think your judgement of Bush is wrong, but I'm not going to defend him, because, frankly, I don't like him enough to bother.

I will, however, take the strongest possible exception to your assertion that "If our government is a failure, it's because we, as a people, are failing."

…Unless you mean that government is a failure because we've elected lots of really crappy leaders, in which case, yeah, that's totally right. Is that what you mean?

Yes, that's what I meant. I'll go even farther and say we haven't elected any leaders at all, they are mostly followers (after money, power, special interest agendas) instead of leading, most of them are just cashing in.

Oh good, we don't to fight then. (I almost got into a duel with Saint Tom last week; it would be a shame for forum members to die such un-novel deaths.)

I would expect a duel between DC forumites to choose weapons that would be very novel indeed. We need to start a Drabblecast Armory and stock it with appropriate gear, just in case the need arises.

However, I'm glad we've come to the obvious meeting of minds on the "99.99999 percent of politicians are disingenous a-holes" point. That's an easy sell though, and something most everyone, but the die-hard ideologues, can agree on.

"Don't blame me! I voted for Kodos."

I haven't lost all hope for reform in American government, but, at this point, it would take a solid decade of intense cooperative effort to steer the bloated behemoth onto a path toward its Constitutional pen, and I don't see the will to that manifesting itself in any political party. (John McCain?! WTF?!) Many sighs.

Drabblecast armory: Do it.

The explanation that made the most sense to me is that Fascism is National Socialism, while Communism is International Socialism, that WWII was a struggle to see which type would prevail in Europe, and that Woodrow Wilson was the 20th century's first Fascist leader.

I'm with ROU that, in a democracy, the people deserve the government they elect. The reason the State favors public education is as a way to keep the public in a state of homogenized, calibrated ignorance. Otherwise the public would rebel from the distraction of the empty Republican/Democrat sideshow. If they can get you to pick a side, you've lost, because both "sides" are the problem in the State vs Freedom battle.

That's why I'm taking my stand with the Zombies against the Vampires. I will fight even when I'm dead against the bloodsucking, never-ending bureaucratic leeches of the night. I will gladly eat their little slider brains. (See DC 42 - 40 Quarters)

Sweet Lord Azathoth, not even one skinny idealistic latte-drinking bed-headed hippy to stir dissent amongst you and yet you still all speak of armories!?
Allow me...

I think we should abolish capital punishment by taking the right to bear arms away from all the evangelical right-wing fanatics who execute aborted, homosexual convict babies...

I also think you should print me some more money from that there machine and that we should all be listening to more Morrissey.

Finally, Algernon is an illegal Mexican immigrant, Strawman is a communist and Tweedy is bi-curious.

Have at you!
