One thing we know: Ayn's new husband doesn't follow the DC forums. Otherwise, he would know where she's run off to, what her messy secret is, and what happened to all the brains in Redmond. How long can a relationship with so many unshared secrets possibly survive?

I was slightly bummed when this story didn't get to me before Halloween, and slightly bummed that it was a Kevin Anderson story. Then I listened to the story.

HOLY CRAP what a great piece of Halloween tricks or treats! I laughed. I shouted. I did fist pumps in the air. Linus vs. the Great Chutulu. Awesome. Norm's production is so great, as was the narration. And I dug the X-Files-sounding music that occasionally played in the background. Really, I can't say enough good things about this one.

(Had no idea it was on EP a while back. Will have to go back and relisten, but I'm pretty sure it'll be way hard to top this production. I'm very glad you all ran it )

Oh, and congrats to Kevin on his 10 year anniversary and to Ayn on her shiny new marriage.

Hey, everyone, thanks for all the congratulations! We're still digesting those brai...I mean, this weekend's events, but it was fun to be able to catch up on the Drabblecast.

And thanks to Norm for producing my story--it was a lot of fun to hear!

Loved the feature--great example of a parody and good work with the Lovecraftian voice.

Hmmm, maybe it's my Antipodean upbringing. We don't really do Halloween here. The occasional desultory trick or treaters that come around leave empty handed but not surprised.

This story just couldn't hold me for more than a minute or so. I realise it was a parody - perhaps that was it; it was a parody of something I have no real emotional stake in.

...The Podcastle I tried listening to next let me down too. Mainly because the whole thing sounded like it was recorded from inside a toilet cubicle. I kept expecting the next sentence to be interrupted by a grunt and a sigh.

Great reading and production of an awesome story. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is a great Halloween favorite and this story encapsulates all of the cool parts, but also throws in a pretty mind-blowing mythos. Great Pumpkin indeed!

I enjoyed this story on EP years ago, and DC only made it better. Loved the Snoopy and Woodstock sound effects! I had also forgotten about Linus spouting verses from Luke to hold onto his sanity, adding to the homage. Good stuff!

I just hope I don't have nightmares about a drabble titled Having My Brains Eaten by Ayn Saucer. I liked it better when zombies were just nameless automatons.

Congratulations for putting on a "Great Pumpkin Halloween" episode. Hellish pumpkins and zombies fixing to tear-ass through the whole sordid affair. I love it. And the intro bit with Kendall as the monster accidentally set loose and peeing on the carpet was just hysterical.

"The Great Old Pumpkin" by Mr. Aegard has to be my favorite story thus far. Lovecraft meets Schultz. Would have been scared if I didn't almost pee in my cubicle at work from laughing so hard. Thanks for giving my vision of this Halloween cartoon tradition a new and bizarre twist.

Another classic, despite the lamentable absence of a new Kevin Anderson story. I recall liking this story when it ran on EP, but the music and sound effects here bumped it up level. Drabble good. Story good. Intro... not as good as last year. Surprise song at the end - Epic win.

So I'm listening to the song and I get to the part about the Great Pumpkin giving you pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie all day. My first thought is "What kind of supernatural being gives his worshipers his own flesh to eat?" My second thought was "...oh, yeah."

Also, I don't mean to be critical of the puns, but the dyslexic zombies are after our Brians. Really, guys, I would have thought that was obvious.

I generally delete most podcasts right after I listen to them.

Not today. I listened to this three times and still haven't deleted it.

The story is hilarious, but the "chatter" at the beginning and end are just as good as the actual stories. "Two kitties?!" Best episode ever.

I can’t believe I didn’t see the ending on the main story coming. I’m a huge peanuts fan, I have all the episodes available on DVD, I’ve seen It’s the The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown no less than 50,000 times, forced my kids to see it 49,000 times (my kids hate me) and I still didn’t see it coming.

The great old pumpkin
Poor Linus and his inevitable descent into madness, he was always the
intense one. This story did a fantastic job of taking familiar
characters and using clever ways of introducing them. A soon as I heard
the title in my head I saw Linus as the narrator talking to Lucy at her
psychiatric desk but the story was written in a way that it could have
easily been a Lovecraft Cthullu story. I had a great time listening to
this one, now if John Aegard will write a Calvin and Hobbes story I
think that would make a great follow up. On another note I just realized
that the first episode of the drabblecast I listened to was last years
Halloween special so thanks guys for making my year a little weirder

This one knocked me out! Combined my favorite comic strip as a kid with Lovecraft-creepy but charming at the same time. What else could you ask for? A real Halloween treat when all I usually get nowadays are toothbrushes. *stupid dentist neighbors*

Giving out toothbrushes on Halloween?!?! Now that is sickest and most tasteless thing that has ever been mentioned on this forum.
