Would've Made a Great Drabblecast

Postby StalinSays on Tue Jun 23, 2009 12:44 am

Kicking off this thread as a catch-all. A dumping ground for links to other short story podcast episodes that forum members deem 'Drabble Worthy,' AKA containing that special, intangible blend of humor, strangeness, and/or the fantastic. The 'It' factor an editor can sense with their special glands, that listeners attach to to put the love in 'our beloved Drabblecast.'

Maybe someday Norm will remix these 'The Guardian' style. It remains to be seen.

A humor / horror Pseudopod 'Flash' story with Lovecraftian overtones. It's got the snappy pace, the length, and the wit, all it lacks is Norm and some strains from Rutabaga.

Fools Seldom Differ. The single story I remember from EP clearly, like it was yesterday. Ah, young love.
But one day when Adam was taking a snooze, God plucked out his rib and created the blues!

I have been checking out the goodies at Clarkesworld magazine (http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/). In particular the telling of 'Rolling Steel: A Pre-Apocalyptic Love Story' is Drabblesque in its augmented production as well as being a fun story.

Also, it is not a podcast, but I saw this today and thought of you... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig6JwrpVvnk

The People of Sand and Slag by Paolo Bacigalupi

This short story is probably a bit long for a drabblecast but it was bizarre and creeped me out. Plus there is a raggedy dog in it and that gets me every time.

It is in this anthology http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLeY-JSRJXE&feature=player_embedded
