Dorothea Grimsley, Drabbletown English Teacher

Miss Dorothea Grimsley taught English at Drabbletown Elementary school for seven decades, following a career in vaudeville and silent films. Although retired at the end of the last century, Grimsley manifested herself recently in response to a gerund epidemic that threatened to freeze Drabbletown in perpetual temporal stasis. In so doing, she exposed herself to the jack-booted forces of drabble-worldly overlords, dying by firing squad at dawn, on September 9, 2009. She is survived by her step-child, R.O.U. Killingtime, who will deliver the gerund-free memorial address at Drabbletown Memorial Rosacrucian Chapel this Thursday evening at seven, followed by internment in the Boxborn Wraith Cemetery.

"Wearing a black formal gown, her lacy undergarments were hidden from view of the att...Aiiiieeeee."

Screaming in terror at the horror befalling him, Miss Grimsley's hand reached forth from the casket and strangled that Gerund abusing bastard, ROU Killing Time...

That was for you Miss Grimsley. I know you got the joke, even if no one else did.

May you rest in hacked up pieces, your head buried miles distant...)

oh, probably all for the best. I sent the NW draft to the Miss Grimsley account via PM.

mr tbaker2005 has been really put his all pointing out the multitude of areas that need work for awkwardness, missing details, and a host of other suggestions that have greatly improved the manuscript as it stands.

So I hoped you missed out on the ghastly first draft, (I was concentrating more on plot and characters at the expense of mellifluous prose.)

PM me if you want to a) send the Part 1 MS to Strawman via PM, b) send it to an email address or c) stop bugging you about my damn book.

I'm happy with part 1 as far as it goes. The plot is established. It's got characters. It concludes with all the chapters having meaningful relationships, and the plot hooks for section 2 and 3 are well set.

But, (and it's a huge but that needs work to even arrive at level of quality where I could podcast it HTSIE style) I need Miss Grimsley's ruler to help locate the grammer errors that are giving some passages a wooden feel.

Since she's gone in person and your the only person that knows the invocation spells, you're my only hope of every making contact with her again.

Probably best to let her take your soul over fairly soon. If you thought the smell of a dementia ward stinking up your spirit was gnarly, just wait until the embalming fluid wears off and she gets that nice 3 weeks in the grave odor about her.
