It was just paranoia.
The only way to get over the fear was to face it. I drove my car to the most leaf-covered parking space.
It was gloomy at 6:30AM, but not cold, so I jumped out of my car and walked to the bus stop. My car lurched a few inches forward. I told myself that it was just settling, a quirk of the transmission and an uneven spot.
When the bus pulled away, I saw it happen out of the corner of my eye. The avatar of evil formed from leaves dragged my unwilling car to hell.
