Home Page Loading Weird

Postby normsherman on Mon Jun 22, 2009 3:16 pm

Does the home page www.drabblecast.org load weird for anyone? Double image of logo?

It doesn't for me, but Kevin Anderson has had issues after trying on several different issues.

This may be an issue with Internet Explorer viewing it?

Yeah, Explorer is loading weird and very slow.
Kevin, move your pumpkins over to Safari or Chrome.

(Firefox on a PC) It loads slow (about double what's usual), but there are no visual issues.

I've tried it out on several browsers, including IE. I think it's loading slowly, and the style sheets aren't loading until late, causing initial double-line text, which clears after the first few seconds.

But it always looks good after loading.

I tried it in Firefox, w3m, konqueror and conkeror, and they all receive a one squid rating.

(AFAIA Firefox and conkeror use the same rendering engine, and I have a feeling konqueror uses the same one as Safari. W3m is it's own beast, for various values of 'beast.')

I think this is a brilliant way of getting lots of hits on the drabblecast website :)

I'm going to test the drabblecast website on any computer I run into this week!

The solution seems to be have less content on the main page then (rather than 50 episodes)-- which would mean episodes would hit the archives quicker. I guess not a big deal, but for new subscribers it's nice (allegedly nice) to be able to download 50 episodes.

(Said in New York Jewish accent) Hey, you want a 50-episode feed? I can give you a 50-episode feed!

You want a single feed with all episodes? I can do that. I'm not sure it's a smart idea, but whatever.

Just loaded up firefox and it looks fine. Makes the text on other web sites look a bit funky but no more double image on the DC home page. So its a problem with the new and improved Internet Explorer 8.
