"Stand up to that bully; he will back down," Dad had said. Nowadays he puts the straw in my mouth -- so I can slurp my dinner.

This did not quite achieve what I wanted, but I have a punctuation based solution...

Facing Sandra Bullock in combat I realized my error. Since our last battle it had become a collective. Sandra swarmed!!

Sorted.

Makes more sense. Is there a deeper context I missed, or is Sandra Bullock just a convenient name?

He ignored the pleading bleats as he beat the stuffing out, literally. A Nauga's hide must have no holes or it was ruined.

In desperation, not duty, the Secret Service man leapt into the bullet's path. "At last. No more speeches," he thought.

This works whether your a Democrat, a Republican, or irrelevant... I mean, other...

(Cheap shot, could not resist... actually I'm aware that it's the ability to mind-control the independents that causes an election to go one way or ta udder.)

Oldie but Goodie

The couple was killed at their wedding and tried to continue their vows in Heaven. It took five months to locate a priest.

Oooo, low blow. Can't say the Catholic Church hasn't earned the reputation, but in all fairness I really think it's a case of the bad apples getting huge press compounded by the gross and willfull negligence of the controlling hierarchy who for years swept the problem under the rug. I have a cousin who's a priest in the Order of the Holy Reedemer, and he's actually there because of his calling, (which I'm pretty darn sure doesn't involve diddling little boys...) so this Twabble is a little like labling all Republicans as torturers, all Democrats as adultering perjurors, and all 3rd party candidates as election spoilers.

Now, now, the joke didn't specify Catholic priests. There are pagan priests, satanic priests, Episcopal, Anglican, Orthodox, Hindu, Shinto, Wiccan and Judas priests. It took 5 months to find any of them. They might have been on vacation or at a long convention. Or it might be reasonable to conclude that, heaven having no need for religious rites, they were all decommissioned on arrival.
I'm certain all the nuns hope so.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention which ones were the Republicans, and which were the Democrats. Y'all guess.

Norm warned, again, of pumpkins with evil powers. Now, mere days later, Norm has taken mysteriously ill. Coincidence?
